Robbing a merchant

Well I was about to enter town and I met a travling vendor. He wanted to trade arround 300 jewelry for some of my special saddles. So I robbed him and got 7 jewelry! Where did he hid the other 300 jewelry at that I was ganna rob off of him?

Everything is ok now because I got to rob another one and I got lots of stuff off of him.

yeah, something similar happened to me, except it was really really WEIRD...

my story goes: I had to turn around because I was almost overburdening my animals (after robbing a "vendor") and then I ran into this "merchant" who was tired and couldn't go on who wanted me to take some item to a town far away... I robbed that "merchant" and I got so much stuff that i could not make it the rest of the way to the town (about 3 miles) and I became rich (understatement) because for some reason that "merchant" was carrying around a GIRAFFE (sorry, I love giraffes...) and they wanted me to take their papyrus or something... *laughs* fun times...
...

Now, don't you appreciate the ability to just rob somebody instead of doing a fair trade? Isn't this game teaching us stuff that is morally incorrect!?!?

I always drop giraffes because their cost/weight is very low.

I believe some merchants you run in to can also be 'shady' in their deals, perhaps that was it? or adjustments went in wrong. I will ask john about it, thanks!
