Am I missing something here? How can a trail be simultaneously in Rome and near a city in the Funan Kingdom? Aren't they on opposite sides of the map? |

The only thing I can think of is that it might apply to the SouthEast Passage between Viet and Rome. (It isn't travelable yet because we don't have ships... but the clue seems to fit it.)
Then again, I'm notoriously poor at these treasure hunts lol.
