Unable to choose a deity

I'm sure it's just me doing something wrong, but whenever I try to choose my deity the pulldown menu that should be listing the various gods' names is completely blank and I'm obviously unable -to- choose a deity

Do I only get a listing of the various deities when I'm in a specific location to choose them, ie a city in a region they're listed in (as in not all the gods have a Mongolian equavalent)? If so, the majority of the times I've tried choosing a deity I've been in a city when I tried.

Any help or pointing to the right way to go about picking my deity will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, sorry. Forgot to mention that I chose the Carthagenian region when just starting out

Maybe it's a glitch? On another site I'm on, Internet Explorer, Opera, and MSN users couldn't access some of the tools used to play the game...:P
They fixed in a month or so though, and now it's user friendly again.X3

Sorry to revive an old thread...but I'm having this problem as well. I have picked Carthagenian region (unfortunately picked it before I saw this post) and am unable to pick a deity, it's just a blank pull down. Do I have to go to the city first or is this possibly a glitch and I need to post in bug/glitches forum instead? Thanks in advance for any help. And "Hello!", I'm brand new today and hooked already.

You shouldn't have to visit the city in order to be able to pick your deity. I'd say it's probably a glitch. Try contacting John about it (account #1). In the meantime, try not to panic. Deities aren't particularly important this early in the game.
